10 <p><strong>Note:</strong> The <em>bibtex</em> program is
11 mentioned many times in these help files. <em>Bibtex</em> is a
12 utility for the generation of bibliographic references in LaTeX
13 documents, created by Oren Patashnik. The same database format
14 is also used with CiteMaker, a utility for bibliography
15 generation in Adobe FrameMaker.</p>
17 <p>JabRef is is a program for working with <em>bibtex</em>
18 databases. The program uses no internal file format, which
19 means you normally load and save your databases directly in the
20 <em>bibtex</em> .bib format. However, you can also import
21 bibliography databases in a number of other formats into
24 <p>JabRef provides sorting and searching functionality for
25 getting the overview of your databases' contents. You can
26 easily add new database entries without having to remember what
27 information is required, and <em>bibtex</em> keys can be
28 autogenerated. JabRef will be most useful for those using
29 <em>bibtex</em> or CiteMaker, but may also be of use to those
30 using other referencing systems or simply wanting to organize
31 their literature sources.</p>
