9 <p><strong>Note:</strong> The <em>bibtex</em> program is
10 mentioned many times in these help files. <em>Bibtex</em> is a
11 utility for the generation of bibliographic references in LaTeX
12 documents, created by Oren Patashnik. The same database format
13 is also used with CiteMaker, a utility for bibliography
14 generation in Adobe FrameMaker.</p>
16 <p>JabRef is is a program for working with <em>bibtex</em>
17 databases. The program uses no internal file format, which
18 means you normally load and save your databases directly in the
19 <em>bibtex</em> .bib format. However, you can also import
20 bibliography databases in a number of other formats into
23 <p>JabRef provides sorting and searching functionality for
24 getting the overview of your databases' contents. You can
25 easily add new database entries without having to remember what
26 information is required, and <em>bibtex</em> keys can be
27 autogenerated. JabRef will be most useful for those using
28 <em>bibtex</em> or CiteMaker, but may also be of use to those
29 using other referencing systems or simply wanting to organize
30 their literature sources.</p>
